Capital takes a seat in the legislature.
Parliament was informed on 18 August that the President intends to appoint ten senators under Constitutional Amendment Act 3, signed into law in July 2026, which creates presidential Senate appointments for professional skills and competencies. Kudakwashe Tagwirei, already a Zanu PF Central Committee member and a presidential advisor, was named on the list read to the House by Speaker Jacob Mudenda.
This is the clearest recent example of the boundary between large-scale private capital and formal legislative power narrowing.
